James Thompson, US Air Force, WWII

For those members who are able to participate only in the Centex cemetery portion, parking will be on the side of the road directly across from the columbarium at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Flag truck will be in place and we will gather there prior to establishing a flagline in anticipation of Master Sergeant Thompson's arrival from Georgetown.

Date: Wednesday, 21 July 2010

Time: 1310

Notes: Arrive hydrated, bring water and use plenty of sunscreen.

Austin PGR Announcement

The family of Mr. James Thompson has invited the PGR to participate in his funeral and interment services. Mr. Thompson served our country for 30 years, beginning when he enlisted in 1943 at age 18 and was sent to the Pacific during WWII. He later served 15 years in the SAC.

He was also a rider, having purchased his first Harley after the war in 1948. He and his wife of 59 years, Francis, spent years riding and moto-camping together. In recent years when the couple saw the PGR in action at the CTSVC, he remarked to Francis "Sure would be nice to have those guys are around when my time comes". She told him "I'll do what I can".

Date/time: Wednesday, 21 July 2010. Funeral scheduled for 11:00 am.

Location: San Gabriel Presbyterian Church, 5404 Williams Drive, Georgetown, TX. We will stage at the church.

Directions: The church is located approx. 5.4 miles west of IH35 on the south side of Williams Drive (FM2338). From north bound IH35, take exit 261A, turn left on Williams Drive. Please park on the west side of the property at the rear. Also, be advised there is construction along Williams Drive. Map link: http://tinyurl.com/SanGabrielPres

Timeline:
9:45 - 10:15 am staging
10:15 am briefing
10:20 am flag line established

Wx: Partly sunny, highs mid-90's. Don't forget to bring plenty of drinking water. Sunscreen recommended.

Notes: Please arrive fueled, fed, and hydrated. There is very little shade at the church. Interment is scheduled for 2:00 pm at CTSVC in Killeen. Mr. Thompson has been cremated, and there is no LEO escorted procession planned. However, we will designate up to 6 big flag bikes who can accompany Mrs. Thompson and the remains from the church to the cemetery. All other riders attending the interment portion will proceed to the cemetery on their own.

Ride Captain: Mark Wells, 512-470-0380, mwells2@austin.rr.com
Flag Wrangler: Bob Binkley

Please make plans to stand tall and silent to fulfill Mr. Thompson's wish and honor his long service to our country.
