MAJ Richard Dewayne "Dick" Taylor, 74
US Air Force, Retired, OF Georgetown, TX
The family of Major "Dick" Taylor has requested the presence of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Interment of their Loved One.
Dick was born on July 31, 1939 in Amarillo, Texas. His father, Jim, was a career officer in the USAF and on the move with each new order. Their last assignment was Limestone, ME and that became home when his father retired. After Dick graduated from Limestone HS he enrolled in college in Maine, but his heart heard the Air Force calling him. He applied to Officer Candidate School and was accepted. In January of 1980, after twenty two years of doing what he loved best, "Strapping on a Jet," he retired from the Air Force at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas with the rank of Major. Dick was offered a position as a Defense Contractor in Belmont, CA. It was there that he met his soul mate, Gail. They were married on September 24, 1983. Dick returned to school, attending the College of Notre Dame and received his Bachelor of Science Degree. Dick retired from Northrop Grumman Corporation after twenty years of dedicated service. It was time to look for those greener pastures he called golf courses. Dick and Gail moved to Sun City in January of 2005. Here, he realized his retirement dream; wonderful friends, lots of golf and great weather. No matter what the chore, Dick would say, "I didn't move to Sun City to do that." He was right. We kept the local handymen busy. Dick was a lifetime member of the Air Force Association, Red River Valley Pilots Association, Wild Weasels Society, Military Officers of America and was a member of the American Legion. We will all be forever grateful for Dick's selfless service to our country and we will miss him dearly. Briefing: 1215 – Upon clearance and at the direction of the Ride Captain, we will move to the shelter, set up the flags and await arrival of the Family from Georgetown.
WX: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. North northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
