FINAL ITINERARY


HONOR MISSION - Multi-Day
SSG Miguel Angel ColonVazquez, 38, US Army, Active Duty, OIF, OEF & OND Veteran, OF Brooklyn, NY


The family of Staff Sergeant Miguel Angel ColonVazquez has requested the presence and participation of the Patriot Guard Riders during the Airport Recovery, at the Funeral Service, and in the procession to and Interment of their Loved One.

Staff Sergeant ColonVazquez proudly served in the United States Army until his death on 3 Jun, this year. His home of record is listed as Brooklyn, NY, though he was born in Guayama, Puerto Rico. He entered active duty military service in July 2003 as a Motor Transport Operator. Miguel has been assigned to 3rd Battalion, 16th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since May 2011. He deployed to Iraq in September 2005, Afghanistan in March 2008, Iraq in May 2011, and Afghanistan for a final time in July 2013. He deployed and served through Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and New Dawn. Miguel’s awards and decorations include five Army Commendation Medals, five Army Achievement Medals, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal. Miguel was a loving, caring spouse and father. He was well respected and proud of his contributions to the US Army. He lived with Honor. He was fanatic about all outdoor sports, including basketball and football. His family was used to waking up to his loud music every Saturday morning. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ngo Thi Pham; cherished children, Avian Adam Colon, Ayanami Ly Pham, Jasana Lieng Cruz Pham, and Annalise Ava Xuan Colon; precious mother, Carmen Iris Vazquez; treasured brothers, Angel Luis ColonVazquez and Alex Michael ColonVazquez; and numerous other family and friends. STAND DOWN DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS FOR RIDERS
(Night Riding on I-35 through construction zones)

The Austin Deputy State Captain will establish a small contingent of RCs to escort SSG ColonVazquez and family to Harker Heights.


HARKER HEIGHTS RECEPTION (CenTex)

Staging Location: Heritage Funeral Home, 425 East Central TX Expressway, Harker Heights, TX 76548 (http://tinyurl.com/ykskupz)

Briefing: 2300

Flagline Establishment: 2322 +/- At the discretion of the Ride Captain.

WX: Partly cloudy, with a low around 74. South wind around 10 mph.

1. Be at staging ON TIME.

2. Upon arrival, look for guidance as to where to park.

3. Be prepared for a long wait & possible changes!

4. Hydrate well prior, bring water for yourself and a buddy and dress with consideration of the weather conditions.

Flagline Establishment: 0955 +/- Once the Funeral Service begins; we will strike the flagline and depart quietly.

WX: Mostly sunny, with a high near 96. South wind around 10 mph.

Setup & Briefing: Upon clearance and at the direction of the Ride Captain, we will move to the shelter, set up the flags, be briefed and await arrival of the procession.
