PO2 John Henry Hoagland, III, 20, US Navy, Active Duty, Killeen, TX
The family of Petty Officer 2nd Class John Hoagland, III, has requested the presence and participation of the Patriot Guard Riders during the Airport Recovery, Arrival, Funeral Service, and Committal Services of their Loved One.
Petty Officer 2nd Class John Henry Hoagland, III, died on August 21, 2017, at sea, aboard the USS John McCain when it collided with another ship. John attended Shoemaker High school, in Killeen, graduating in 2015. He was known for being sweet, kind, and reliable. He participated in the JROTC program all four years of high school and said his goal after high school was to join the Navy. John enlisted in the Navy in 2015 where he has proudly served aboard the USS John McCain since October 2016. He was trained as an Electronic Technician. Staging Time: 1715 (flight arrives ABIA 1615)

Flagline Establishment: 1730 +/- At the discretion of the Ride Captains, dependent on the punctuality of the airline and traffic conditions.
WX: Sunny, with a high near 89. West northwest wind 5 to 15 mph.
Notes:
1. Stay alert to changing timelines.Everything is dependent on the flight's actual arrival time and how long it takes the procession to come in from Austin.
2. Be at staging ON TIME.
3. Hydrate well prior, bring water for yourself and a buddy and dress with consideration of the weather conditions.

Flagline Establishment: 0925 +/- Once the Funeral Service begins; we will strike the flagline and quietly prepare to participate in the procession to the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

Setup & Briefing: Upon clearance and at the direction of the Ride Captain, we will move to the shelter, set up the flags, be briefed and await arrival of the procession.
