HONOR MISSION
Col Clifford Buckley, US Air Force, Retired, Vietnam Veteran, Temple, TX
The family of Colonel Clifford Buckley has requested the presence of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Memorial Service of their Loved One. Inurnment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
Written by Tom Turlington, Retired US Air Force Brigadier General, who was mentored by Colonel Buckley: "Cliff is a true legend, bigger than life. He was the only Flight Surgeon for the Air Rescue Service in Vietnam from 65-68. They were the movers in the creation and development of the Air Force Para Rescue Teams, the Special Ops of the Air Force. Cliff was part of that group, having over 100 rescue jumps. The Combat Rescue Service had over 3700 saves in Vietnam, including 2000 Airmen. He then did a Surgery Residency at Wilford Hall and a Vascular Fellowship at Massachusetts. He was Chief of Surgery and Vascular Surgery at Wilford Hall, and later at Baylor Scott & White. He trained hundreds of surgeons, including three General Officers, one of whom became the Air Force Surgeon General."
I offer my condolences to the family and friends of this VIETNAM WAR HERO who will not be forgotten. Rest in peace forever free.
They may take my LIFE, but they will NEVER take my FREEDOM!
