Sgt Francisco "Frankie" Angeles Ramirez, 96, US Army, Retired, WWII & Korean Conflict, Prisoner of War, Bronze Star Recipient, Killeen, TX
The family of Sergeant Francisco Ramirez has requested the presence and participation of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Funeral and Committal Services of their Loved One.
A native of Corregidor, Philippine Islands, Frankie retired from the US Army in 1961 and went on to work in the Federal Civil Service at Darnall Army Medical Center for another 26 years. Before joining the military, Mr. Ramirez was a member of the 91st Coast Artillery, Philippine Scouts. He was a POW during World War II. He was given a Bronze Star, along with other medals for service during both World War II and the Korean War. Most recently, he was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for Filipino Veterans of World War II during ceremonies held in Washington, DC. Sergeant Ramirez was a life member of the American Ex-POW Cen-Tex Chapter #1, VFW Post #3892, American Legion Post #223, the Philippine Scout Heritage Society and the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor. He was also a member of the Filipino-American Association of Central Texas and served in various leadership positions throughout the years.
