LTC William Thomas Slye, Jr, 82, US Army, Retired, Vietnam Veteran, OF Belton, TX
The family of Lieutenant Colonel "Tom" Slye has requested the presence of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Committal Service of their Loved One.
Tom served 28 years primarily in the US Army as a highly decorated helicopter pilot, Master Army Aviator and Transportation Logistics Officer. He served three tours in Vietnam as a combat helicopter pilot; and flew in the Presidential Helicopter unit for both the President Lyndon B Johnson and the Richard M Nixon administrations. His career also included commanding a Cobra helicopter company and the last active duty unit of the CH-54 Skycrane helicopter unit in Germany. Tom and his wife settled in Belton, TX where they have lived for the past 11 years, actively involved in their church, Knights of Columbus (4th Degree), neighborhood and community. Setup & Briefing: Upon clearance and at the direction of the Ride Captain, we will move to the shelter, set up the flags, be briefed and await arrival of the procession.
WX: Mostly sunny, with a high near 67. North northeast wind 5 to 15 mph.
