1SG James E Akins Sr, 71, US Army, Retired, of Killeen, TX
The family of First Sergeant James A Akins has requested the presence of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Committal Service of their Loved One.
Akins was drafted in 1966 by the United States Army, and remained a soldier in the United States Army from 1966 to until his retirement in 1992, and defended honor in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield, better known as The Gulf Wars. He proudly and honorably served twenty six years to achieve the rank of First Sergeant where he cultivated many skills, many lifelong friends, picked up a nickname “Boogie Man a.k.a Boogie†and a level of respect and admiration. Staging Location: The cul-de-sac between the Walk of Heroes and the Memorial Shelter at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 SH 195, Killeen, TX 76542 (http://tinyurl.com/CenTexVetsCeme)
Setup & Briefing: Upon clearance and at the direction of the Ride Captain, we will move to the shelter, set up the flags, be briefed and await arrival of the procession.
WX: Sunny, with a high near 73. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

2. Hydrate well prior, bring water for yourself and a buddy and dress with consideration of the weather conditions.
