SHORT NOTICE HONOR MISSION
LTC Donald Stephens, 86, US Army, Retired, Vietnam Veteran, OF Ft Hood, TX
The family of Lieutenant Colonel Donald Stephens has requested the presence of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Committal Service of their Loved One.
Don attended Basic Armored Officers Course, transferred to Army Ordnance Corps, served in Vietnam in Logistics and Ordnance Supply and commanded Delta Company, 35th Armor (Patton’s own), Second Armored Division. He commanded Headquarters and Maintenance Company in Giessen, West Germany; served in the Second Support Brigade, Seventh Army Support Command in Hanau; was with the DoD Logistics Command in Richmond, Virginia; a maintenance staff officer for the 8th US Army and Korea Support Command; served at Ordnance Center and School; taught in the Basic Officer’s Course and served as deputy for the Maintenance Division.
He was a project manager for modernization of the Saudi National Guard; division chief for New Equipment Training and Technical Support Tank Automotive Command in Warren, Michigan; deputy commander Combat Equipment Group Europe; and Army Material Commands Logistics Assistance Officer. In 1984, he retired from the US Army after 26 years active duty in the US Army and four years active duty in the US Army Reserves. Don was active in VFW Post 8577 in Copperas Cove, and attended many funerals of unaccompanied veterans, believing no one who served should be buried unwitnessed.

Setup & Briefing: Upon clearance and at the direction of the Ride Captain, we will move to the shelter, set up the flags, be briefed and await arrival of the procession.
WX: Sunny, with a high near 62. North wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east southeast in the afternoon.

1. Be at staging ON TIME.
2. Hydrate well prior, bring water for yourself and a buddy and dress with consideration of the weather conditions.
3. A mask or face covering will be mandatory, due to the mandate from the State of Texas.
