SFC Robert Hale, 65, US Army, Retired, Operation Desert Storm Veteran, Bronze Star Recipient, Patriot Guard Rider, OF Killeen, TX
The family of Sergeant First Class Robert Hale has requested the presence and participation of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Funeral and Committal Services of their Loved One.
Robert started as a Supply Sergeant and eventually reclassified to Motor Transport Operator. He culminated his twenty year career at Ft Hood, Texas with the 3/41st Mechanized Infantry Battalion where he retired, January 31,1993 with the rank of Sergeant First Class. During his twenty years of service, he was awarded the
Bronze Star Medal; Army Commendation Medal with four bronze oak leaf clusters; Army Achievement Medal; Good Conduct Medal (sixth award); National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star; Southwest Asia Service Medal with three bronze stars; NCO Professional Development Ribbon with numeral three; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbion with numeral three; Kuwait Liberation Medal - Saudi Arabia; Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver "W" Bar; Expert Badge with Rifle Bar; Korea Defense Service Medal. Robert honored fellow Veterans and Service members through his volunteer work, including riding with the Patriot Guard Riders, Wreaths for Vets, and participating in various charity rides, and also an active member of the Horny Toad Harley Owners Group in Temple, Texas. Staging Location: The cul-de-sac between the Walk of Heroes and the Memorial Shelter at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 SH 195, Killeen, TX 76542 (http://tinyurl.com/CenTexVetsCeme)
Setup & Briefing: Upon clearance and at the direction of the Ride Captain, we will move to the shelter, set up the flags, be briefed and await arrival of the procession.
WX: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1300. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. East wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
