MJ Dick Atkinson, 75, US Army, Retired, Vietnam Veteran, Bronze Star Recipient, OF Harker Heights, TX
The family of Major Atkinson has requested the presence of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Committal Service of their Loved One.
Dick joined the US Army in 1966 and served for twenty years retiring at the rank of Major. His assignments took him to numerous postings in the US and overseas, including service in the Republic of Vietnam. He was the Professor of Military Science at Pan American University Edinburg, Texas. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Army Achievement Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters. Setup & Briefing: Upon clearance and at the direction of the Ride Captain, we will move to the shelter, set up the flags, be briefed and await arrival of the procession.
WX: Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
