SFC David "Snafu" Smith, 74, US Army, Retired, Patriot Guard Rider, of Killeen, TX
The family of Sergeant First Class David Smith has requested the presence and participation of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Funeral and Committal Services of their Loved One.
David honorably served in the United States Army, enlisting in 1974 and retiring as a decorated veteran on June 30, 1994. After his retirement from the Army, he dedicated himself to education and community service. He joined the Patriot Guard Riders in 2008, and was known in recent years as Snafu to the PGR. Flagline Establishment: 0925 +/- Once the Funeral Service begins, we will strike the flagline and depart quietly.
Staging Location: The cul-de-sac between the Walk of Heroes and the Memorial Shelter at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 SH 195, Killeen, TX 76542 (http://tinyurl.com/CenTexVetsCeme)
Setup & Briefing: Upon clearance and at the direction of the Ride Captains, we will move to the shelter, set up the flags, be briefed and await arrival of the procession.
WX: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 87.
Notes:
1. Be at stagingS ON TIME.
2. Hydrate well prior, bring water for yourself and a buddy and dress with consideration of the weather conditions.
3. Patriot Guard Motorcycles have permission from the family to park across from the shelter at the cemetery for a last rev at the end of the cemetery service.
