The Temple Chamber of Commerce has requested the participation of Patriot Guard Rider Members during the escort of Veterans from the William R Courtney Texas State Veterans Home to the Frank W Mayborn Civic & Convention Center for the 32d Annual Military Appreciation Luncheon.
The Military Appreciation Luncheon includes the presentation of the Nation’s Colors by the 1st Cavalry Division Honor Guard, music from 1st Cavalry Band, patriotic message, and a special presentation. Past presenters have included MG Clark LeMasters, Commanding Officer, 13th ESC/Fort Hood; Keifer Marshall, Jr., USMC (Ret), a survivor of the Battle of Iwo Jima; COL (Ret) Bill Pailes, director of the Temple High School JROTC program, retired from the USAF and former shuttle astronaut; and, LTG (Ret) Paul “Butch†Funk, former Commanding Officer, III Corps/Fort Hood. This 33rd Military Appreciation Luncheon also falls within one day of the 75th anniversary of the official opening of Fort Hood.
